WATCH: Video of Khune offering to buy Soweto pubs divides opinion

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune divided social media opinion on Tuesday after a video of him outside Moja Cafe in Soweto circulated. In the video, Khune can be seen having fun with friends, while trying to get off a bus. He seems to be refusing to do what he is being asked to do and instead asks for a speed point so he can swipe his card.

“We want to buy this bus and Moja,” says Khune as he waves his platinum card, while his friends ask for a speed point.

He has been trending on Twitter since.

The video divided social media users, with some slamming him for the “embarrassing” video, while others defended him and said he was only having fun.

But his critics claimed his defenders would be first to laugh at Khune should he go broke.

“This guy works hard for his money, eh. And also he’s a businessman, a good citizen, and our African brother living his dream. I stan Boet,” said VegaBenz, while JudithZiso said: “And then they die poor, some of these soccer legends/ musicians when you once called the best and a celeb.”

Others, however, slammed those who posted the video on social media, and further warned Khune to be wary of the friends he kept. They accused some of his friends of trying to ruin his reputation, though others said blaming his friends was wrong.

“Stop moving the blame from Khune to his friends. Khune is a grown ass man that knows very well that alcohol and sports do not mix. [He’s] a captain and a senior player at Kaizer Chiefs. He needs to take full responsibility of this as a grown man. Not his friends,” said ClasscCliff.

However, Khune assured his fans that falling was not his fate.

“I won’t fall, my friend,” he told his supporters.
