Ronwen Williams says SuperSport United must up their game in the Tshwane derby on Wednesday if they are not to be “smashed” by Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium.

SuperSport United lost further ground on their city rivals on Saturday, when they were surprisingly beaten 2-1 at home by Marumo Gallants.
Kaitano Tembo’s side trail Sundowns by seven points, while the DStv Premiership leaders also have a game in hand. And Matsatsantsa captain Williams is well aware a vast improvement is needed for the Sundowns game.
“We are coming off a very disappointing result, we did not apply ourselves like we know we can,” said Williams.
“The performance and effort was not there and we got what we deserved. There are a lot of things we need to fix…we need to work hard, we have spoken about it, analysed it…or we will get smashed in the next game.”
Williams says the side are happy that the club games are coming thick and fast on the back of the last Fifa international break of 2021.
“Back-to-back games are what we enjoy as footballers…we missed it when Covid hit so we have no complaints. It is what we enjoy and live for, we must just make sure we recover well, look after ourselves and enjoy the moment.
“Sundowns have been doing well…they haven’t conceded, that shows the work they have put in on the training ground is working for them,” added Williams.
“We must go in and fight, stick to our own targets.”
