Vries says standing in for Khune comes with pressure because Chiefs is a big team, however, insists he will not try to emulate the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.
The Namibian international has had to fill in for Khune after he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
“I don’t want to fill Khune’s shoes, I want to fill my own shoes because I have to look at myself, and it has to start with me,” said Vries.
“Because if I’m trying to fill his shoes, I’m not giving myself chance to be who I am and for people to see the goalkeeper that I am, so I rather be myself and add value to the club.”
The 27-year-old added that he was focused on how he can help the team in the absence of Khune rather than trying to be better than the Bafana Bafana international.
