Vilakazi ‘less emotional’ about facing former club

Wits will visit Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday. The game is set to start at 6pm.

Vilakazi, who was the captain of the team, left Wits in July 2016 to join Sundowns.

Are the any emotions attached to this game? That was the question put to Vilakazi. “No, not at all,” he replied.

Masandawana lead Orlando Pirates by three points at the summit of the log, and could extend their lead to six points should they collect all three points against the Students in Pretoria.

“When you are at the top you can’t relax and you are always on your toes. We need to improve the character when we play Wits,” said Vilakazi.

“We are playing Wits in a very challenging space, we want to continue collecting the points. We are at a stage where we want to win games, we have no choice but to win games if we want to win titles and I think that’s all that matters,” he added.

The Bafana Bafana international continued: “Having to play Wits is always a big game because they are the defending champions and they want to find themselves in the top eight. The main focus in this game is them moving into the top eight and us trying to win the league, that is why it is a big game, we have to win by all cost.”
