UAE club Al Wahda terminates Pitso Mosimane’s contract

Al Wahda have announced that they have terminated the contract of coach Pitso Mosimane following a string of poor results.

In a short statement, the UAE Pro League outfit said the former Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United coach will be replaced by Dutch coach Arno Buitenweg.

“Al-Wahda terminates its contract with Pitso Mosimane by mutual consent,” read the club’s statement.

“Al Wahda Football Club Company announces that it has reached an agreement with South African technical director Pitso Mosimane to terminate the contract by mutual consent between the two parties.

“The management of Al Wahda Football Club Company decided to appoint Mr. Arno Buitenweg as coach of the first team during the coming period, wishing him success.”

His representatives, MT Sports confirmed that the former Bafana Bafana coach and Al-Wahda have parted ways.

“MT Sports Marketing and management can confirm that coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team have parted ways with Al Wahda Football Club with immediate effect,” read the agency’s statement.

In his 10 games in charge of Al Wahda, Mosimane registered six wins and suffered four defeats.

Mosimane has been mentioned as one of the front runners for the vacant Kaizer Chiefs head coach job.

The job became vacant when Chiefs parted ways with coach Molefi Ntseki following a poor start to the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Cavin Johnson, who was Mosimane’s assistant at Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, is currently in charge of Amakhosi albeit on interim basis.
