I try to be a team player – Tau

The forward has been on scintillating form for Pitso Mosimane's side and says he now has a bigger responsibility than before.

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Percy Tau says handwork and the support he gets from the team were the reasons why he has been on top form in the last two years.

The forward has scored nine goals for the Chloorkop-based outfit this season, with one of his goals being voted as the goal of the month for the month of December, which came against Free State Stars.

“It goes back to handwork and the support I get from my teammates. Everything that I am doing is part of the team structure, and I try to be a team player,” said Tau, who recently returned to the Downs camp yesterday following his call-up to the national team.

“This is the new Percy, he has a bigger responsibility now than before.”

The forward will be very instrumental for Downs on Saturday when they take on Kaizer Chiefs in a league clash at the FNB Stadium and says the tie will be entertaining.

“I think it is going to be a good game, we will do our best because we need the points, and they also need points,” Tau added.

Amakhosi winger George Lebese, meanwhile, says coming up against Sundowns will be very tough, but everyone at the club is raring to go.

“It is going to be a tough one, we are playing the African Champions, they deserve the respect,” said Lebese.
