Truter’s charges beat Pirates 2-0 at home in the first round of the DStv Premiership last year, thanks to goals from Elias Mokwana and Vusumzi Mncube.

The second meeting between the sides was closely contested, with the Buccaneers eager to avenge that defeat but it ended in a 1-1 draw.

“I think achieving and getting four points off Orlando Pirates this season is a massive achievement. I am really happy with the boys and their performances. And also the tactical flexibility, I think we carried ourselves well,” said the Sekhukhune mentor.

“We might have struggled with our attack in the first half getting out from a deep block. But in the second, when we changed it a bit by bringing Mokwana and Victor Letsoalo we managed to create one or two chances and we could have snatched it at the end.”

Sekhukhune and Pirates are set to meet for the third time this campaign when they meet in the final of the Nedbank Cup. They will battle it out for silverware at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 27 May.

But, before that, Truter wants his players to focus on their last league game of the season against SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

“But I am happy for the boys, I am happy with the point and it sets us up well for the final. But before the final (Nedbank Cup), we also have another final against SuperSport in order to secure the top eight spot at home,” he added.
