Thugs steal former Pirates defender’s car – report

Former Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba has reportedly opened a case of car theft at the Norkem Park police station after his vehicle was stolen.

The SundayWorld reports that Matlaba  told the police that he had parked the car at Kwartel Spar in Norkem Park, while he was training at Virgin Active at Greenstone in Edenvale and when it went missing .

“While in the gym at Virgin Active he received an SMS from Matrix Tracker informing him that his car power is down, and that if he needed any assistance he must call them,” reads the statement from the police, as quoted by the Sunday newspaper.

Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele is said to have confirmed that Matlaba was stolen.

“Yes, a case of theft of a motor vehicle was opened by Matlaba. The vehicle was later recovered but no-one was arrested,” Makhubele was quoted as saying by Sunday World.

Matlaba, however, has denied that his car was stolen, claiming that his Hyundai ix35 was used by his father in Limpopo.
