He replaces Brandon Truter who was shown the door following Swallows’ 3-1 loss to Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs last Sunday.
Speculation has been rife that the Birds were looking to bring back their former coach Gavin Hunt, who is currently serving suspension at Chippa United, but Swallows chairman David Mogashoa confirmed Kerr’s through a tweet on Tuesday.
In the tweet Mogashoa is seen with Kerr holding a Swallows jersey with the caption: “The legend is in the house.”
Kerr was last on the books of shakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, now known as Marumo Gallants, last season and helped the club to the Nedbank Cup title.
