Tau not chasing Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot

The 23-year-old won the Man-of-the-Match award after scoring his brace in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 4-0 hammering of Baroka FC on Tuesday night – a result that saw Masandawana shoot straight to the top of the Absa Premiership table.

“This keeps the mood, we didn’t concede, we did a lot of things that the coach wanted us to do and he was happy. I don’t think he expects four goals again, he just expects us to do what he wants,” he said.

Tau now has four goals in the league, just three shy from his total tally of the previous campaign. However, he maintains that he is not chasing the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award.

“Sometimes it will come into my mind that I need to score in this match but then it doesn’t happen and I’m like, okay it will happen in the next game and I just keep on saying next game until I eventually score,” he said.

“I always feel comfortable whenever I contribute to the team, I don’t know how many goals I will score and how many good games I will have, but I always feel strong whenever I contribute to the team.”

Sundowns will face Golden Arrows on Sunday and Tau says they have learnt from past encounters with Abafana Bes’thende and will hope to come out on top.

“We know that they are a good side and they have given us problems in the past but we have watched the previous games and what they have done for us to struggle against them.

“We’ll put in the hard work and do our match analysis and we’ll do everything to win because we want to go on the December break on a happy mood… I just hope it is not going to be raining that side,” commented Tau.
