Tau is playing as a lone striker for Sundowns, contributing nine goals so far in all competitions. The Bafana Bafana striker crowned an enterprising season by earning a call up to the national team, scoring on debut against Guinea-Bissau.
“I play as a lone striker, false striker, number ten or winger, so I enjoy learning everyday,” said Tau.
“But playing as a lone striker is a position that I prefer because it has a lot of responsibility, and I enjoy the responsibility of playing upfront, making sure I keep the line deep to help the team create chances and score goals.
“It gives broader responsibility to me as a player and helps me focus on making runs and trying to stay in between [the defence line], trying to score goals and trying to assist, and I prefer those things.
“The harder it gets, the more I learn. I learn to get better and I develop, so I enjoy those things.
“I’ve played most of my career there [as a striker]. I’ve played as the lone striker and false striker, so it’s always been me there upfront.”
