Prior to this loss, Abafana Bes’thende had gone nine matches without tasting defeat in the Absa Premiership.
Aubrey Modiba – who scored United’s second and third goals – says key to their win was to cancel out Arrows’ midfield enforcer Musa Bilankulu.
“We stopped their main man Musa Bilankulu in the middle and that is how we got three goals. We expected a tough game because they have pacey players and we knew they would look to catch us on counter attacks,” he told SuperSport TV.
“We did well, we came from a defeat from Bloemfontein Celtic and the coach told us to score goals and make sure that we don’t concede like we did against Celtic. I am happy with my great performance. I scored goals in two consecutive games,” he added.
Matsatsantsa A Pitori have a date with TP Mazembe in the Caf Confederation Cup final this month, and Modiba says the side is waiting in anticipation to play in their maiden continental cup final.
“Everyone is looking forward to the final. We knew that if we win this one we will move up to 10 points and climb. I am happy that we got the points and hopefully have a good rest and focus on the final.”
