SuperSport snap up Qalinge after Pirates exit

SuperSport United have confirmed the signing of midfielder Thabo Qalinge.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder has signed a one year deal with Matsatsantsa with an option to sign a two-year extension.

Qalinge was released by the Sea Robbers before the start of the 2019/2020 season.

The 27-year-old midfielder started his professional career with Matsatsantsa before joining Mpumalanga Black Aces and later Orlando Pirates.

Qalinge left Pirates after the Soweto Gianst signed over five new players in preparation for the new season.

The Soweto-born player is the third player to join United from Pirates this season, with Thamsanqa Gabuza and Kudakwashe Mahachi joining Matsatsantsa before the club’s first game of the new campaign.

“It’s good to have Thabo back for a second stint at the club,” said SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews.

“He has matured and gained immense experience since his first spell with us and we hope he makes the most of this opportunity to show South Africa what he has in his locker and how he can help us win trophies and push hard for a Top 4 spot in the PSL.”
