Sundowns got a bye in the preliminary round, and will now play Rayon Sports FC of Rwanda, who won 1-0 at Burundi’s Lydia Ludic Academic on Wednesday to seal a 2-1 aggregate victory. Rayon have never been to the group stages.

In the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup, meanwhile, Cape Town City’s win over Young Buffaloes of Swaziland in midweek has set up a meeting in the next qualifying round with Costa Do Sol of Mozambique. Costa Do Sol beat Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana 2-0 on aggregate.

SuperSport United, meanwhile, last year’s finalists, had a bye in the last round and will now take on Petro de Luanda of Angola, who thrashed Malawi’s Masters Security 5-0 on aggregate.

All four SA sides are away in their first legs, set for March 6-7, with the home second legs on the weekend of March 16-18.
