The Brazilians were said to have a made an offer for Mahlambi prior to him going to Portugal to attend a three-week trial at Vitoria Guimaraes, but it was turned down.
But if Mosimane’s quotes are anything to go by, then Sundowns could make another bid for the Wits youngster.

“There are a lot of players we want, and if it’s an 18-year-old or a 20-year-old, [we] don’t waste time. I missed another one who is below 21 and I would have paid top dollar. Almost,” Mosimane told Kickoff.
“I won’t say his name, [but] I would pay top dollar. [He is] 19 years. [He has] speed, goals, [Ousmane] Dembele … you pay.”
“Okay, I’d need one or two years to polish him, but when he’s shining he is bright. Khama [Billiat] came here raw. Same as Percy [Tau], I have to work on him. We have to be patient with [Motjeka] Madisha. Those are the ones. You can never go wrong.”
Meanwhile, Sundowns have announced that fans dressed in yellow will be allowed to enter the Lucas Moripe Stadium for free to watch their side in the Caf Champions League match against Wydad Casablanca next week.
