Sundowns to look for Dolly’s replacement

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that his team will be in the market in search for a left-footed attacker in the upcoming June transfer window.

The African Coach-of-the-Year says his team’s playing style has been somewhat affected after the departure of winger Keagan Dolly who signed for French side Montpellier in January.

“You have to be on the roll, you must not have interference with the team, meaning we don’t have to let players go, we need to avoid big injuries. Now we are being disturbed because Keagan is not here anymore. As much as we are not saying we can’t play without him … we have won many games without him. But that balance on the left, especially when we played Cape Ton City, I really missed him on the left because he knows how to play inside and outside.

“We play Themba Zwane who cuts in with his right foot, and he is not the fastest, he is good in ball retention. So it has changed a little bit in our usual way of playing on the left. The solution we have is to put Percy Tau on the left, but he is a little bit of a problem when he plays as a number nine or as a 10 … he is always facing the goalkeeper one-on-one, so that has caused a little bit of an imbalance in the team, hence in June we need to get a left-footed player on that space,” said Mosimane.

Masandawana begin their Caf Champions League defence this Friday at home to Ugandan side Kampala City Capital in the first-leg, with the return fixture scheduled for March 18 in Uganda.

“We have to score and 1-0 is still not enough in the Champions League, you need a second, you need a third. At least a minimum of two goals, it gives you a little bit of a chance, three goals, then you are okay,” Mosimane said.
