Sundowns set to appoint former Sweden coach

Reports coming out of Sweden are that former Sweden coach Erik Hamren is in talks with Mamelodi Sundowns over a possible general manager position at the club.

According to the reports, Hamren has flown to South Africa to hold talks with Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe over the job that was left vacant by Sizwe Nzimande, who resigned recently.

“Sweden’s former federation is negotiating to become new general manager in Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa,” reported the Expressen.

The 60-year-old coach has been without a job since he left his post as Sweden coach after the European Championships in 2016.

Efforts to get a comment from Sundowns’ media officer Thulani Thuswa proved fruitless as his phone rang unanswered.
