Celebrations just can’t stop for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, as the team defended their Hollywoodbets Super League title with three games to spare following their 2-1 victory over JVW FC at the Groenkloof Stadium on Thursday.

The result meant Banyana Ba Style have now accumulated 64 points after 23 games, six points ahead of second placed Tshwane University of Technology ladies, who are on 58 points having played 25 games.
It’s another big achievement for the Sundowns ladies, as the league championship title comes after the side had won the Cosafa regional title and more recently, the Caf Women’s Champions League.
Sundowns ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala says he is happy to see his team winning the league again and admits there were times when JVW seemed like they would steal the show.
“I am happy for the girls for getting three points, but we just needed one point for this game. A very tough game, they play beautiful football JVW, we know what they are capable of and the kind of players they have. But, I must applaud my team, we did great. We were all over them in the first half, second half, there were moments where they were all over us. But we kept our cool, but I am just happy and excited that we won the league again,” said Tshabalala.
In their last three games of the season, the Brazilians will take on University of Western Cape on Sunday, Richmond United on 1 December and wrap up the season with a clash against Ma-Indies on 5 December.
Tshabalala promises not to relax going into these last matches despite that they have already won the title.
“We will treat them like the games that we have been playing. Remember we have a record we need to keep, but we are not playing for records. But the more we win the more we become confident and say come next season we will do it again.”
