Sundowns coach Pitso defends misfiring Vilakazi

Vilakazi, who is a one-time Footballer of the Season, is also struggling to hit form but his coach Pitso Mosimane is keeping his faith on the 29-year-old as he has not missed a game this season in all competitions.

“He is missing a lot. He missed against Bloemfontein Celtic, he missed against Cape Town City and against SuperSport, but what are you going to do? You have got to keep going because he contributes to the play and he works very hard off the ball. He is getting the chances and he is not taking them,” said Mosimane.

“In South Africa we don’t have a lot of people who can bury chances, it is not only at Sundowns, ask all the coaches, it is a challenge that we have in the country. But he does well and he works so hard off the ball and he does everything. He scored in the Champions League and we thought the confidence would be back,” Mosimane added.

Vilakazi’s dip in form seems to have influenced new Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki not to include him in his maiden squad that will face Madagascar on Saturday.
