Sundowns close in on Jali

Pitso Mosimane says Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali is 'very close' to signing for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Jali, 28, is a free agent after being released from his contract by Belgian side KV Oostende, and has held talks with Masandawana, with the two parties close to an agreement, according to the Sundowns head coach.

“We are really talking to Jali now, it is very close, to be honest it is up to him to sign,” said Mosimane.

“We have discussed it and spoken, we have seen his terms, obviously this is business, he wants more (money), but we also don’t want to spoil the dressing room. (What) if Percy (Tau) says ‘this is what you are paying for a midfielder and not me, who plays 30 games every year?’

“We reached a good level and a point of understanding, to say he must remember that his competitors at Bafana are here and sometimes he will be playing and sometimes on the bench. But he (Jali) has the right attitude for football, he is a bull terrier, he has the right tempo to play Champions League. If he comes he still has his buddy (Oupa) Manyisa, he has (Tiyani) Mabunda, he has Hlompho (Kekana). There are these four midfielders for a heavy schedule and they know they all have to play.”
