Luc Eymael goes against the old saying which proclaims that it is no use crying over spilt milk but only because the Free State Stars coach is an ambitious person and doesn’t easily get over bad results.
“We could be top of the standings if we had not dropped points late by allowing teams to beat us or secure a draw in the late stages. I am talking about the last five minutes of matches,” said the Belgian.
Free State Stars are 10th on the Absa Premiership standings with 12 points, six behind leaders Baroka FC and could inch a little closer if they can beat Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium this evening.
Eymael said preparing for Chiefs is both easy and difficult at the same time. It is easy in that every player is giving their best hoping to secure a starting berth against the more popular Amakhosi.
It is difficult in that he has to ensure the players do not get over-excited and remain focused on executing the game plan without being too harsh.
“Chiefs play various styles. Sometimes they use three at the back, sometimes four and they are playing well. We will have to be at our best.
“We have not had enough time to plan for them. We had a match on Wednesday and have not had enough time to train,” he added.
Beating Amakhosi could see Ea Lla Koto break into the top eight and Eymael said the ambition is to move up and challenge for the league.
The 56-year-old Belgian will however have to do battle without one of his trusted soldiers, striker Edward Manqele, who has picked up an injury.
