Following the announcement that the Carling Black Label Cup tickets were sold out on Monday, sponsors of the pre-season match between Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are to content with the response they have got from the fans.
Brand director Grant Pereira says the fact that the tickets have been sold out so early before the match on July 27 at the FNB Stadium shows that the fans are hungry to take control of their respective teams.
On the day of the match, fans make decisions in terms of the starting line-ups, substitutions and select their own captain.
“We are thrilled at the overwhelming show of support from the supporters of the Carling Black Label Cup. This marks a major moment in the history of local football. It speaks volumes about the initiative, and demonstrates that the fans are hungry for their chance to impact the beautiful game,” he said.
“It is also heartwarming that even in our absence in 2018, the Carling Black Label Cup did not lose its momentum. We would like to thank everyone for their continued engagement and support of this unique initiative.”
Line-ups for the match will be revealed on July 24.
