Braga FC and Amajita striker Luther Singh says being united has worked well for the national Under-20 team’s display in their first match at the Caf Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Zambia.

The team beat Cameroon 3-1 courtesy of Singh’s hat-trick.

“Our cohesion does not start on match day. We have become a family over the past few months. The players are all equal – no one thinks they are bigger than the other or even bigger than the game. We are always together, therefore we share a lot of jokes and advice about football, mostly tactics and life in general. But when it is time to work we work very hard,” Singh was quoted on SAFA.net

“The technical team and support staff also do a great job in keeping us united, on and off the field. We have prepared well for this AFCON and we hope the results will keep showing our unity and the hard work we have put in.”

Amajita sit on top of Group B table with three points, followed by Senegal and Sudan who each have a point after playing to a 1-1 draw and Cameroon are yet to register a point putting them on the bottom of the log.

South Africa will play their second group stages match against Senegal at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Thursday.
