Sekhukhune unlikely to pick easy points as Chiefs plan return to action

If Sekhukhune United had counted an easy three points they would possibly get on Sunday if Kaizer Chiefs fail to honour their fixture at FNB Stadium, they better think again.

Chiefs are reportedly making arrangements to return to action on Sunday and host the Limpopo side who have done fairly well so far this season.

According to a report published by The South African on Friday, Amakhosi will be at FNB Stadium on Sunday for their DStv Premiership game against Babina Nokho.

“The game is going ahead. All the preparations are underway, and everything is set for Sunday. The process of sanitization of the two facilities is also happening today and tomorrow. So, Chiefs will definitely honour the fixture against Sekhukhune,” a source is quoted as saying in the report.

Chiefs have already missed two games due to not having a full squad to honour the games following a ravaging Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena.

Amakhosi initially reported that 31 of their players, coaches and staff had contracted the virus. But later, they revealed the number had risen to 36.

But it is now believed that some who had been diagnosed earlier and went on quarantine are back and ready to get back to action. The club is yet to make any official announcement on their plans.

Phakaaathi understands that Chiefs tried their best to have a squad available for Wednesday’s match against Golden Arrows in Durban but the plans were canceled when a further five players were found to have caught the virus.
