In a rather unusual post-match interview on Thursday night, Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter hinted that his time at the club might be coming to an end.

But on the home front, things are not so rosy. Sekhukhune suffered their fourth defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership match in Polokwane on Thursday.

In contrast to his usual thoroughness during post-match interviews, regardless of the result, Truter conducted only a brief 120-second interview.

“As a coach, you always have to have all the answers. You have to have faith and still believe in the team and players,” expressed Truter.

“But at the same time, you are never short of being criticised. You are never short of being told what to do.

“You are never short of people telling you what you are doing wrong. But at the end of the day, you have to face the music with mistakes like that in the last third.”

Truter expressed his frustration with missed chances despite good build-up play.

“You have a three-v-one with the goalkeeper and still miss so many chances… But the opponents have one shot, and it’s a goal. Then maybe your problem is not on the field.”

Truter considers his future

He also hinted at considering his future, explaining, “This is what I am thinking at the moment.

“I am really considering my future because we need a conducive environment for the team to grow.

“At this moment, I am not the happiest and I am a bit emotionally charged, and I think that is my interview, guys, at the moment.”

He was then asked about the Confederation Cup group stage draw scheduled for Friday in Johannesburg.

“At this moment I can’t talk about my future. Sekhukhune will see how the draw goes, whether I am part of (the club) going forward, that is something I still have to consider.”
