SunSport reports that the officials cut a deal to influence the result of one of the promotional/relegation play-off game in June this year.
It is believed that the refereeing team officiating on the day agreed to split the profits, however, the whistle-blower didn’t get his share and alerted the integrity committee.
This scandal allegedly led to Sejake’s suspension. Safa has since appointed former referee Ian McLeod as the new head of referees.
Some Safa officials declined to comment on the matter that is said to be investigated by the Hawks.
“It’s Safa policy not to comment on staff related matters. The referees department is working full throttle, as always,” Safa spokesman Dominic Chimhavi told SunSport.
