Safa probably prefers white coaches – Siasia

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has expressed his disappointment for failing to make the top five shortlist for the Bafana Bafana job.

Siasia was one of the 62 coaches who submitted their CVs to be considered for the Bafana head coach role, which has been vacant since Ephraim Mashaba was fired in December last year.

Safa chief executive officer Dennis Mumble confirmed this week that the committee tasked with finding the new national team coach, had recommended five of the coaches who applied for the job.

Siasia is not on the list of the recommended coaches, and the former Super Eagles mentor is not happy about the latest developments.

Reports suggest that Belgian coach Hugo Broos‚ Morocco’s French coach Herve Renard, former Real Madrid manager Carlos Queiroz, Stuart Baxter and former England manager Roy Hodgson as the coaches who made the shortlist for the job.

“Yes, I’m disappointed, but I wish them luck,” Siasia told Nigeria’s Punch newspaper.

“They probably prefer white coaches, and I don’t have any problem with that.

“I will take any opportunity that comes my way – to coach a foreign team.

“My agent is exploring other opportunities and it depends on what he gets. I have no regrets applying for the job.”

Siasia is currently out of work after helping Nigeria win bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
