SA referee rejects R300k bribe – report
South African referee Victor Gomes reportedly turned down a bribe worth US$30‚000 (R362‚822) to fix a Caf Confederation Cup game.

According The Sowetan the no-nonsense referee was approached to fix a game between Nigerian side Plateau United and USM Alger of Algeria but he refused to do so.

Gomes was in Lagos, Nigeria, when the incident took place and is said to have reported the matter to Caf.
Plateau beat USM alger 2-1 in the match that had South Africa referees, Gomes, Johannes Moshidi and Athenkosi Ndongeni‚ and Thando Ndzandzeka officiating.
