SA-based stars nominated for Caf African Player of the Year Award

SuperSport United's Jeremy Brockie and Dean Furman, along with Mamelodi Sundowns' Percy Tau and Denis Onyango, have been nominated for the 2017 Caf African Player of the Year Award for those players based on the continent of Africa.

The four formed part of a 30-man long-list released yesterday by the Confederation of African Football, with the awards ceremony to take place in Accra, Ghana on January 4.

New Zealander Brockie and Bafana Bafana star Furman have been key members of the SuperSport side that have made it all the way to this year’s Caf Confederation Cup final.

Tau and Onyango were part of the Sundowns side that beat TP Mazembe to win the Caf African Super Cup earlier this year and that reached the quarterfinals of this year’s Caf African Champions League.

Ugandan goalkeeper Onyango won this award last year, after Sundowns won the 2016 Caf Champions League.
