On 3 May, Phakaaathi published an online story, "Chiefs player survives accident,” about striker Ryan Moon allegedly having been involved in a car accident on Friday 28 April on the N12 near Southgate Shopping Centre.

Both Mr Moon and Kaizer Chiefs responded by strongly denying that any such accident took place at all, claiming that Mr Moon was in camp in Nelspruit at the time.
Phakaaathi’s source claims to have been personally present at the time of the accident but we have not been able to independently verify the information.
