Rusike will be our goal-hero – Tinkler

Eric Tinkler has invested all confidence into newly recruited striker Evan Rusike to end SuperSport United misfortunes in front of goal.

The capital city campaigners have been having it tough in recent games, misfiring in front of goal, having converted only four goals in eight games before Saturday’s 4-2 win over Bloemfontein Celtic.

“I think he can (solve the scoring problem), he has the ability and he has shown that he is a goal scorer and I think if we can get back to our ways, the brand of football that we play, I think he will score not just a few but many,” Tinkler said of Rusike who was brought in in the wake of Jeremy Brockie’s departure to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Another new recruit, Mogakolodi Ngele got himself on the score-sheet, but was, together will Rusike, forcibly substituted because of injuries.

“I’ve said this from day one that players that we bring into the club need to bring value, and I think they will add a lot of value,” Tinkler said.

Tinkler refuses to be carried away by the side’s first Absa Premiership win in five games and only their second victory in nine outings since the turn of the year.

“One game is not enough, we need to continue and get and another win. Once we do that, then yes, I will say yes the monkey is off our back,” said Tinkler.

“We saw Ngele Rusike having to come off, so that monkey is still hanging around. Hopefully (their injuries) are not too serious, we will only know in the next 48 hours as to how both those potential injuries are,” said the former Orlando Pirates coach.
