Johnson was appointed as the new Chiefs caretaker coach after the club parted ways with Molefi Ntseki following a poor start to the DStv Premiership season.

The former Al-Ahly assistant has already been in charge of Amakhosi in two games, losing 2-1 to Golden Arrows in his first assignment before winning his last game 3-2 against Cape Town Spurs.

However, in that short period, Riveiro has already identified new developments at Amakhosi under Johnson.

“They are doing changes already (the new technical team at Chiefs). You can see in their recent games that certain things are new, especially in the build-up. They also have a player like (Keagan) Dolly coming-back, a player who plays an important role in the way they want to play. The new signing as well of (Sibongiseni) Mthethwa, those are new elements,” said the Bucs coach during the Soweto derby press conference this week.

“But still, it’s early to get the whole conclusion of what the coach or the technical team is looking for from the team. They need time to develop their ideas and efforts. But whatever happens on Saturday it’s still too early to have a judgment or conclusion on what coach Cavin is trying to do with the team.”

Both teams head into this match having registered positive results in their last league games. The Sea Robbers edged Sekhukhune United 1-0 at Orlando Stadium, while Chiefs beat Cape Town Spurs 3-2 at FNB Stadium in midweek clashes.

Looking at the log standings, Bucs are on 10th spot with 12 points after nine matches, while Amakhosi are on seventh place with 14 points from 11 matches.
