The bone of contention revolves around a deal between Welcome Mpanza, the chairman of Msinga United, and Sifiso ‘Jomo’ Biyela, the owner of Richards Bay FC.

Biyela allegedly owes Mpanza a substantial sum, reportedly amounting to R800,000.

The dispute stems from an agreement made at the beginning of the season, when the two clubs exchanged players.

Three players – Bandile ‘Mzambia’ Ndlovu, Nkululeko ‘Mkhulise’ Miya, and Thabani ‘Motsiri’ Mthembu – were part of this player exchange.

The original arrangement was that the clubs would settle the financial aspects later.

However, as per insider information in Mgosi Squad’s desk, Biyela has not honoured this agreement and is yet to pay the agreed-upon amount.

Mpanza is reportedly fed up with this situation and is contemplating legal action to recover the owed funds.

“Biyela has broken this agreement as he has not paid the money they had agreed upon,” said a source.

“He is now considering taking legal action against him to recoup the money.”

Not the first time Richards Bay facing similar allegations

This incident is not an isolated one. Biyela has faced accusations in the past of enticing players from ABC Motsepe League teams with the promise of better terms and subsequently failing to deliver.

It’s worth noting that Richards Bay has encountered financial challenges, which might explain their reliance on less experienced players.

The players in question initially caught the eye during Umsinga United’s participation in the national qualifiers for the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

While other teams showed interest in these players, Mpanza chose to provide them to Richards Bay.

The non-compliance with the agreed-upon financial terms has left Mpanza deeply frustrated and considering legal action to ensure their deal is upheld.
