Malesela was not happy with officiating during his side’s 1-1 draw against Mbombela United in the National First Division last Sunday.
“The young referees need coaching. They need to be coached, and they look at us (coaches) and think we are attacking them when we speak, we are not going after them, but what they do affects the quality of the game. II think Steve Komphela once spoke about coaching them,” said Malesela.
Malesela joins the likes of Benni McCarthy and Pitso Mosimane who have expressed their dissatisfaction with officiating in the PSL.
The SA Football Association (Safa) announced earlier that it would demote referees who were found to have made questionable decisions during games to lower leagues, and put them under performance review.
Malesela, however, still feels more needs to be done to make sure the officials do their jobs properly.
