Ragamalela looking to score against Chiefs

The 29-year-old has already scored nine times this season and is currently the league’s leading goal scorer and will be looking to add a goal or two tonight.

“As a striker I just love scoring,” proclaimed Rama-G, as the bulky player is now widely known, yesterday. He however insisted that inasmuch as ending the season as a top goal scorer would be a huge personal achievement he always puts the team’s ambitions ahead of his own.

“It is not only about Rama-G becoming the top goal scorer… it is about ensuring that Polokwane City are in a good position at the end of the season. I do not play alone and it is always a team effort. We will be fighting together to try and overcome Chiefs,” he added.

Rise and Shine have been playing some attractive and constructive football but results have not been kind to Bernard Molekwa’s side who are 11th on the log after four wins, six draws and five defeats in 15 matches so far. But Ramagalela believes their stunning come-from-behind 3-2 win over log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns has injected the energy and confidence they needed.

“The win against Sundowns was our first at home this season and it has boosted our morale and we now have to keep it up and continue collecting points. We are not in a comfortable position on the log. But we are going to do better and ensure we finish in the top eight again. We just have to keep our heads down and win our games,” he said.

In Amakhosi, City meet a team desperate for a win and they are aware the task will be even harder for them.

“We will try and get maximum points… it will not be easy – that we know. They are a good side and deserve the respect as a big team but we will double our efforts to ensure we come out smiling and with three points,” said Ramagalela.
