Radio presenter sued over questions about Soweto derby deaths

In court papers, Grobbelaar claims he was defamed by the host, who portrayed him as someone who doesn’t care about fans losing their lives at the FNB Stadium.

Two fans died during a stampede before the start of the Carling Black Label cup match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on July 29.

Mosia interviewed Grobbelaar after the incident.

During the interview, Mosia made reference to the Ellis Park incident where fans died during a Pirates and Chiefs game.

Mosia asked Grobbelaar if he was head of security when 43 people in the Ellis Park disaster in 2001. This is the question that seem to have upset the CEO according to the court papers filed at the South Gauteng High Court in Joburg.

Grobbelaar claims that Mosia was aggressive and antagonistic during the course of the interview.

Power FM as permitted its host to publish the podcast of the interview, so as to let people make their informed opinion about what transpired during the interview between Mosia and Grobbelaar.
