Radebe was planning SA return before fatal accident

A source has revealed to Phakaaathi that the 22-year-old defender’s agent had made a few enquiries with local teams and some had shown an interest in seeing him.

“He was set to go to Belgium on today (Wednesday) to sort a few things out and then come back to attend a few trials. He was really excited about coming back home,” the source said.

Radebe played for KAS Eupen where former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Phakamani Mngadi also plays.

Although Radebe was not known in local football circles having made his professional debut in Belgium at a very young age. A close friend of his from Newcastle where he was born said he was in the mould of David Nyathi and could have been an asset for the national team.

“He was doing well for himself and had renovated his family home and bought his father a car. He was planning so much but it was not to be,” said the friend who asked not to be named.

Radebe allegedly died when the car he was on was involved in an accident on his way home from spending some time with friends at the Black Rock Casino in Newcastle in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
