PSL referees to officiate in World Cup qualifiers

Four Safa officials that work in the Absa Premiership have been called up to work in the upcoming match between Morocco and Gabon.

The Group C match will be played on October 7 at the Complexe Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco.

“Victor Gomez will be the match referee assisted by Sello Moshidi and Lindikhaya Bolo while Victor Hlungwani will be tasked as the fourth official,” read a statement on Safa’s website.

“The South Africans will work alongside Nigerian referee assessor, Callistus Chukwujekwu while Antonio Mendes from Guinea Bissau will be the match commissioner.”

Gomez has made headlines in South Africa over the past season officiating some of the big games in the local league, with many questioning some of the decisions he made.

The 34-year-old referee is expected to be in charge of the Caf Confederation Cup quarterfinal match between Al Hilal and TP Mazembe on September 16.
