KwaZulu-Natal Police have confirmed that they are investigating the assault case laid against Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane by AmaZulu's head of security Nathi Ngwenya.
Pitso Mosimane (Head Coach) of Mamelodi Sundowns had to be held back by police after fighting at the end of the game during the Absa Premiership match between AmaZulu FC and Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium on September 16, 2018 in Durban, South Africa. Ngwenya opened a case of assault against Mosimane after a tussle broke out between the two after the game between AmaZulu and Sundowns last weekend.
Mosimane is accused of punching Ngwenya when he allegedly dragged two Sundowns fans invaded the at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The former Bafana Bafana coach has denied punching Ngwenya claiming he was only trying to escort the fans off the field.
KwaZulu-Natal Police spokesman Lt-Colonel Thulani Zwane says the police will only take the case to court for a decision on whether or not to prosecute once the investigation is complete.
“No one has been arrested‚” Zwane told TimesLIVE.
“It’s early… a week hasn’t passed yet. What’s the rush really‚ what’s the rush‚ huh?.
“In short‚ I can say we are still conducting our investigation and once we’ve finished our investigation we will then go to the court for a decision.”
