The Bafana Bafana international, who was part of Stuart Baxter’s team that won the Four Nations tournament in Zambia last week, says when you don the Masandawana jersey, you have to improve your performance every time.
“You always have to push yourself at the highest level and you are always thriving to get better and better,” said Vilakazi.
“That is the level that you are supposed to be performing at because you want to be a better soccer player, you want to be better in terms of contributing to the team,” he added.
“Vila”, a one-time Premier Soccer League Footballer-of-the-Year, is facing the prospects of winning his maiden league title as Sundowns are leading the run-in for Absa Premiership honors.
“At this moment the title is not yet secured. I can only talk when the title is secured, but the motivation is always there,” said Vilakazi, who saw his former side, Bidvest Wits, winning the top-flight title immediately after he jumped ship to join the Brazilians.
“I remember when I started playing as a kid, I wanted to win something so that when I retire I can show my kids and at this point I wish I had 10 titles in the PSL to say I am one of the greatest,” he added.
