Pitso: We could have scored more

The African champions outclassed Amabhakabhaka in a 6-0 drubbing at the Loftus Stadium in an Absa Premiership encounter. The score-line could have been more emphatic as Downs struck the woodwork twice, while the Buccaneers were also denied by the upright in the opening moments of the game.

This was the second time Pirates have conceded six goals in one match after succumbing to the Brazilians’ crosstown rivals SuperSport United in November last year.

After one of their finest performances, the Bafana Ba Style mentor reckons they could have done much better.

“This was not the best game that we’ve played; in the first half I was very angry. Let me tell you, we could have scored more. I am unhappy with the chances that we missed, the decisions that we took, very bad decisions.

“This is not a good game that we played. We scored the goals, okay, we showed we are strong with the movements and all that. I think some of the goals showed a little bit of class, the third and the fourth goal. It is good to see the ball moving like that, one-two one-two. The first goal was beautiful, unlike somebody doing tricks, that is what I want and that is what I believe in.

Pirates have now lost four games and registered as many wins, whilst managing seven draws which leaves them hanging on a thread for a top-eight finish. With that below par performance midway through the season, Mosimane says he would never had imagined handing down a heavy defeat to the not so Happy People.

“You can’t say you are going to score six against Pirates. If it happens it will happen. But let’s be honest, they were open at the back but I don’t think in their next game they will be open as this,” he said.

“I was a little bit disturbed by the interruptions because it could’ve been one or two more. When you have someone on the ropes and then they are saved by the bell, it is not right,” added the former Bafana Bafana coach.
