Pitso unfazed by Sundowns’ log position

Drawing 1-1 with Polokwane City was not a "train smash" for Mamelodi Sundowns in their quest for a successful Absa Premiership title defence, Pitso Mosimane believes.

The Brazilians are now two points behind table-toppers Bidvest Wits, who they travel to this weekend, and although Sundowns’ position could have been affected by Orlando Pirates’ result away to SuperSport United – Pitso Mosimane is pretty much happy with where his side is in the table.

“We are sitting in the right position. It is a nice position to be in. I can’t pretend we would have not liked to win against Polokwane City – of course we wanted to win, but it is okay. The pressure is on everybody who plays sport and football is totally different,” said Mosimane.

“Football is the way it is because you look at what is happening with Manchester City and Liverpool, it is a nice race. Sometimes Liverpool draw when they had a nice chance to cement the lead and City come back and win, they draw sometimes and they lose sometimes. It is the way it is, you just have to go with it and see what happens,” he added.

Mosimane believes that Masandawana’s failure to beat Rise and Shine, who came off the back of a 3-0 loss at the hands of rock-bottom Maritzburg United, is only an indication that “there is no obvious in football, you fight for your points”.

“You can’t always have what you want,” he said.
