Pitso: No one wanted to win the league

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says other clubs didn’t show intentions to win the league.

Sundowns were handed the Absa Premiership title on Saturday afternoon after playing to a goalless draw with Bloemfontein Celtic.

“We are expected to win the league at Sundowns. I think the same goes for Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits – we are expected to win the league,” said Mosimane.

“But we wanted to win the league, and we said we want to win the league. That’s why we won the league. Because I don’t think there was anyone who wanted to win the league.”

“No one said they want to win the league, so we got what we all wanted when everybody was afraid to say, ‘We want to win the league.’

“I understand why, because they were managing pressure. But at Sundowns there is pressure – on the coaches; on the players – there’s always going to be pressure.

“Maybe next year somebody will say they want to win it. Have you heard anything yet?”
