Pitso Mosimane: It’s not over yet

The Brazilians have now gone five Absa Premiership games without registering a victory, managing only one goal in the same number of games – something out of the ordinary for the African and Premier Soccer League champions.

Their title defence suffered another knock on Tuesday evening at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic who held them to a goalless draw.

Now, Downs find themselves seven points behind pacesetters Bidvest Wits, and with their games in hand slowly running out, Masandawana will have to rediscover their terrific form if they are to keep their title hopes alive.

Mosimane is however adamant his side can still put up a fight in his bid to win his third league title with the Chloorkop-based side.

“We have to keep going, and maybe we might not win the league the way we are going it does not look so, but I still believe that we can still decide it. I look at all the teams that are left, I look at SuperSport United, I look at Wits, I look at everybody, and Orlando Pirates. I think my team can win those games. Not that I am disrespecting other teams, I am yet to find a team that will play toe-to-toe with us and then we say we lost and we give a hand shake, and say yes, this team really out-played us,” said the former Bafana Bafana coach.

He added: “At one point in time in the 2013/14 campaign, I was 11 points behind Kaizer Chiefs. And what happened? They went through a spell like us. They drew, and then we came up and we won the league. It is not yet as bad as that. I am not saying it is going to be like that. But that is reference for me.”
