Pitso happy to have stars back ahead of City clash

Pitso Mosimane is delighted that a number of his injured players are steadily making their way back to full fitness, with Sibusiso Vilakazi the only exception.

The Mamelodi Sundowns coach says having a full squad makes it easier to share the workload as Downs continue their Absa Premiership title defence.

Masandawana are in the Mother City tonight where they will face Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium for the second time in almost a week after City lost 3-2 in Pretoria.

“We are getting a clean bill of health and it is at the right time. People are coming back and it’s only “Vila” who we can say is still out. But I am happy we managed to rotate players and keep the attitude of attacking and the way we play. I am happy with that because the games are coming thick and fast,” said Mosimane.

While that 3-2 win was a convincing one by Sundowns, Mosimane anticipates a different approach from City, especially now that they are oozing confidence after staging a comeback at championship chasers Bidvest Wits.

“It will be a totally different game than the one we played. It will be a bit open because they never sat back in Pretoria so how are they going to sit back in Cape Town? It is going to be exciting and an end-to-end game. Whoever takes their chances will win,” Mosimane said.

Bafana Ba Style are considered favourites to clinch the title but Mosimane insists the race is wide open. However, he hopes the point earned against Bloemfontein Celtic this past Saturday will come in handy in the season finale.

“We must not be emotional about it and must not personalise things, we need to keep going. There is still a long way to go.

“We can’t win all the games that are left but let’s see who can,” said Mosimane.

“The teams will cancel each other out along the way in the next three or four weeks. Maybe at the end of the season we can look at the two points we dropped somewhere and we can say ‘oh, what a point gained’.

“It is the way it is, you lose, somebody wins, you draw, somebody wins,” he added.
