Pitso doubtful of a successful league title defence

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has hinted that the Brazilians will struggle to successfully defend their Absa Premiership title.

The former Bafana Bafana coach won his first title with Downs in the 2013/14 campaign, again in 2015/16 and their recent record extending eighth title last season.

However, the 2017/18 Absa Premiership Coach-of-the-Year winner has never had a successful title defence – one thing he does not see changing soon.

“I don’t know what Sundowns is like. Sundowns always lose something and we come back and we win it. Even the Caf Champions League, I don’t know if it is a pattern or what,” said Mosimane.

“If my scorpions tell me the way it is going to be this year, the league is again going to be on the edge. We are playing the Champions League and we are going to give a lot to the Champions League and in December the Champions League starts again and must finish next May,” he added.
