Pitso backs Chiefs in Soweto derby

Amakhosi will face their age-old rivals in the first installment of the Soweto derby this season on Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

The African Coach-of-the-Year reckons it will be much better if Komphela – a son of the soil – gets the victory ahead of the Buccaneers’ Serbian-born coach Milutin Sredojevic.

“I hope he wins again on Saturday, he is a brother, why not,” said Mosimane at the back of his side’s 2-1 loss against Chiefs on Tuesday.

“It is not the first time I speak about Steve, I want him to stay on the job. He deserves a break and a reliever. He is my brother. Black coaches are very few in the PSL. There could be an overseas coach coming in this year and we are short,” said Mosimane.

He added: “Last year we lost to Serame Letsoaka at Bloemfontein Celtic. So I am trying to protect, it is not the first time I speak about Steve, I want him to stay on the job.”
