Pirates working on finishing ahead of Chippa clash

The Soweto giants meet Chippa United in the first round of the Telkom Knockout at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night in their second attempt to try and go all the way to lift a trophy this campaign after failing to do so in the MTN8 earlier this season.

“In every competition we go in the with the highest possible ambition to go all the way and win. That is the DNA of this club and I am blessed to be the coach. All of us in the technical team are working very hard with our players, supported by management, and in turn supported by the fans, in order to achieve what we are looking for. If we had a soul-healing session last year then we are looking to do anything possible to feed the soul and doing our best to achieve the best results,” said the Bucs coach.

Going into this game, Sredojevic had plenty of time to get his charges ready for the Chilli Boys due to the international break and said he will be working with his players mostly on trying to get their finishing right.

“We would like to say there are some polishing details we need, especially up front in terms of finishing. This is what we will be focusing on, but at the same time we also have to take care of the defending and attacking so that we strike a balance,” he added.

“We have no right to … to have any periods of sleep, you need to have a perfect balance, tightening up at the back and scoring up front.

“For that to happen we shall pay the strongest possible attention to the deepest details to get the performance and results we are looking for. We really want to get through to the next round.”

Last season the Buccaneers bowed out of the quarterfinals of the TKO after losing 4-2 on penalties to Polokwane City following a 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
