Pirates winger Saleng leads nomination list for PSL awards

Orlando Pirates’ Monnapule Saleng leads the nomination list for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards, following his sterling performances for the Buccaneers in his first season with the club.

The winger has been nominated in four categories.

Saleng has been in scintillating form for Pirates, and his nominations for the awards do not come as a surprise having played quite a huge role in the team’s campaign this season.

Saleng will be competing for the prestigious Footballer of the Season award with the Mamelodi Sudnowns pair of Teboho Mokoena and Ronwen Williams.

The Pirates winger has also been given the nod for the DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the Season, Midfielder of the Season and the MTN8 last Man Standing accolades.

The former Orbit FC and Free State Stars winger returned to the Buccaneers this season after he was loaned out to Swallows FC last campaign. His return to Bucs proved to be a good call by the club’s technical team, as he helped the club win the MTN8 Cup and they are also in the running for the Nedbank Cup.

The virtual awards will be held on 28 May.
