The Premier Soccer League on Tuesday finally handed down its punishment to the Buccaneers for the crowd violence at the game between Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on February 11, 2017.
The PSL said in a statement on Tuesday that the sanction handed down to Pirates was that they “must play two home matches in a closed stadium,” but added that “the implementation of one of these matches has been suspended for a period of 24 months.”

Now Pirates have announced that their game against Wits will be played behind closed doors.
“The Absa Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits scheduled for Wednesday, 25 April, will now be played behind closed doors in terms of a sanction handed down by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee,” read statement on the club’s website.
“Fans who have already bought tickets for this match will be advised in the near future as to how to get a refund.”
